Entertainment

There are local events and festivals aplenty on the island and in Weymouth, everything from Jazz and folk festivals, fireworks and live music on the beach to the water festival, the seafood festival, the local steam fair and the quirky gooseberry fair.

Weymouth’s shops, sandy beaches, theatre, multiplex cinema, bowling, sports facilities, bustling and lively nightlife and traditional entertainment for little ones (donkey rides, Punch and Judy, Sharkey’s, Sealife Centre, etc.) are just 6 miles away and Dorchester, Dorset's County town is 14 miles. Both are within easy reach by car or bus and there is a regular and very good public transport system from Portland to Weymouth, Dorchester and beyond.
